Check out the youtube Video on Challenge Based Learning. This is one of the teaching strategies our classroom has been using. "Challenge Based Learning is an engaging multidisciplinary approach to teaching and learning that encourages students to leverage the technology they use in their daily lives to solve real-world problems through efforts in their homes, schools and communities. Overview."- Jamie & Adam CBL 2015

So far, I have noticed that the students absolutely love Place-Based Learning because the are given the opportunity to learn outside of the classroom. The students are more engaged and ready to learn. We have seen such an improvement in grades, attitude, and learning environment.

Our local community so graciously collaborated with us on two, yes TWO amazing projects. We can not say thank you enough for all of the generous help, time and effort you all put in. The first project was a to find a way to better our community, and the students found a solution to reduce the waste in our town and encourage people to recycle more. The second took place with all first grade teachers. We created the "first grade elementary garden". The students are already begging for another lesson using Place-Based Learning! We LOVED it!!
